My name is Carter in Texarkana TX!

Carter is a male black Mountain Feist puppy with a tiny white marking on the toes of his back left foot. Carter and his brother Jimmy came to rescue as breeder surrenders. They are NOT mix breed but we marked chihuahua as their secondary breed to get the attention of people who may not know about Feists, as they are close relatives to Rat Terriers and Jack Russell Terriers and Chihuahuas. Feists have a reputation as great companions and family dogs and are not typically as high energy as Jacks. Carter is 5 months old and weighs 8 lbs. He is dewormed, vaccinated, neutered and on heartworm preventive. 

Carter is a happy, social boy. He is smart and ready to learn. Carter loves to be held and be silly. He is playful and curious and will bring lots of energy and happiness to his new family. Carter has done well with other dogs and made friends. He also takes caution well from older dogs that don’t want to be his friend. Carter loves to stretch out with his belly in the grass or the floor. He’s a sweet little fella, making good progress on kennel and potty training. He is ready for adoption.

We require all potential adopters to submit an application. We only accept applications for a specific dog you are interested in adopting. We do not keep waiting lists or files of general applications for dogs we might get later. The online application can be found at this location:

A completed adoption application and, upon approval, an adoption contract is required. Jeff Tarpley Rescue welcomes applications from homeowners, renters, and condo or apartment dwellers. At a minimum, a phone interview will be conducted and a vet reference checked before the applicant may meet their preferred pet. 

We adopt primarily in the 4 states of the ArkLaTexOma. Applicants willing to travel to Texarkana will also be considered with additional requirements to qualify as approved.
