My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Gunner and the name suits me.

I’m a 2-year-old, good-natured, neutered male who’s currently being fostered in Columbus, Ohio. All I want is love love love. I am housebroken and well behaved (considering my youthful energy) and a sweet joy to be around. I need a home of activity, attention to me and I will give you love love love in return. My foster Mom thinks I am from prized breeding lines based on looking at me and my behavior. To me, I am just your typical Weim-touch me, touch me or I will touch you. I was given away free on Facebook while quite underweight and living outside alone in a pen in TN. I was first in a foster home in TN and now in Ohio as part of Louisville Weimaraner Rescue. I am now a healthy weight of 75 lbs, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and on heartworm/flea/tick preventatives.

I’m a happy-go-lucky guy who loves being in the house, playing (sometimes kinda rough) with my dog brothers and spending some time outside with my foster family. I have lived with 3 indoor cats and mostly ignore or nicely interacted with them, as well as all 4 outside adult barn cats. I’ve been nose to nose with a horse through the safety of a fence and so far am quietly curious. I have learned older dog respect too. So I am rounded out in my social interactions.

My good qualities are: I can be left alone in the house and not destroy anything, I sit pretty when the food bowl is ready to go down, foster Mom can take things out of my mouth without a struggle, I go submissive when I have been yelled at by the older dogs or foster mom.

My in-between qualities: My current foster Mom cannot get me out of her bed but this does not mean it is hopeless- I just protest by barking. Place me in your bed with you and I am p-e-r-f-e-c-t. I have been crate trained by a prior foster but considering my rough first year I hate a cage as it is not near you.

My work in progress is : Not jumping on foster Mom when she comes home from work, being mouthy with her hands as she walks down the hall without petting me but I have made great progress and a full recovery to normal, mature Weim is in my future.

Foster Mom is amazed at how resilient I am and finds me rather endearing...she says she will miss me. I’ll happily lay my head in her lap or just sleep at her feet. I just love my people- I was born a Weim thru and thru.

If you would like me to come enrich your life, please fill out an adoption application at www.louisvilleweimrescue.com. After receiving your application a LWR volunteer will contact you. Don’t fret if it takes a few days, I’m totally worth the wait.
