My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Slater and his stunning blue eyes! Slater is a spunky 6-7 month old Husky/Saint mix. He is super smart and loves to play and jump (not always at the appropriate time). He also loves being around his people and other dogs. He is learning to trust, but is currently quite fearful of new people. But once you are in his circle of trust, this sweetheart just wants to be your best friend (and share your food).

He came to us from Mexico where this puppy was sadly kept on a chain outside and lived mostly under a vehicle alone. Knowing that, it’s easy to understand his trust issues.

Slater has shown himself to be both cat and dog friendly. He would do best in a home with other dogs who would like to play and wrestle with him. He hasn’t shown any desire to jump the fence, and instead is quite content just exploring the backyard to keep everyone safe from invading squirrels and rabbits. He gives off serious Husky energy and does need a good amount of activity to help him channel that enthusiasm. Slater loves a nice long walk with his foster brother, but his leash manners and situational awareness to keep from being peed on could use some work. As with any of us, he's a work in progress and learning more each day.
