My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In 2 words, Penny is Simply Happy. She’s always positive and happy. Penny is the sort of cat that will chose to come to you, which she will bravely do, and if you are gentle, she will quickly decide that you are trustworthy. Once that happens, she will want pets. This can happen very quickly. She really enjoys attention, often flopping hard and then rolling from side to side, stretching, while getting belly pets. She likes the feel of a brush despite not shedding much. She is full of energy and is an explorer. Like any cat, she loves her time to sit in window sills and watch the world. She likes to play, and play acrobatically, batting, running, and chasing; her favorites are anything with a feather. She likes to use a scratching post.

While Penny may not be a lapcat, she likes to curl up between knees when you’re on a recliner or couch with your feet up. She trots over in her little cute way when called. She likes to rub her cheek on shins and ankles when she passes. She likes to wrap her tail around her foster dad’s nearest limb, just to be in contact.

Penny was found abandoned in a hallway of a high-rise in the city of Chicago before Chicago Cat Rescue found her. Despite this, her foster home has only ever seen her prancing about or playing, or rolling around, purring, asking for belly pets while she does happy feet (alternating open right with closed left to closed left and open right, repeated).

Penny is just a soft, purring bundle of cute, friendly, warmth. Just adorable. She's just lovely and adorable and warm. She likes the fish-flavored Greenies "Smartbites", not the bigger crunchy ones. Penny does air biscuits all the time. She will sit on her butt with one of her forward arms straight down, and the other hand will be off the ground, contracting and expanding, contracting, expanding. Super cute. Such a lover.

We plan to place Penny in a home as a single cat. Single cats are at risk for becoming lonely and bored. Like all “single” cats, Penny depends on her humans to meet her needs for companionship. For this reason, we would like to place her in a home in which her human family members work remote much of the time, and do not have extended work hours outside the home.

If you would like to meet and possibly adopt this amazing feline, please email info@chicagocatrescue.org or call 773/203-0215. No texts, please.

CCR adopts to forever homes in Chicago or the very near suburbs that are within 10 miles of our Chicago foster families. We love our cats and we pledge support for the rest of their lives, which is why our location limits are in place. We appreciate your understanding. If you are outside of these limits, please check petfinder.com, which allows searching by zip code, for cats closer to your home.

At Chicago Cat Rescue, we are dedicated to both the physical and emotional well-being of the cats and kittens in our care. For this reason, unless expressly stated, we do not place cats or kittens in homes where they will be the only cat. Generally, cats love the company of other cats, and can become quite lonely when living alone.

Kittens will only be placed in pairs, or to join another kitten or young cat in your home.

Chicago Cat Rescue is an entirely foster-based organization. Our ability to help more cats in need is dependent on our availability of foster homes. If you think you could provide a loving foster situation for a cat in need, or would like to learn more about our foster program, please email us, info@chicagocatrescue.org. Thank you!
