Meet Buttercup!

Buttercup is currently being fostered in the Ocean Beach area and can frequently be seen walking in Liberty Station or enjoying some doggy play time at the OB dog park.  She is quite the rave!  In fact, her foster family has provided several cute little facts about Buttercup:

1)  Buttercup likes to be sung to!  She'll hold your hand with her paw and stare into your eyes when you sing to her and if you start singing to her when she's not in front of you, she runs over and sits and holds your hand with her paw.  She is a sweet girl that likes a LOT of attention and love!  It is our hope that she will find a forever family that will give her all the love she deserves!

2)  Buttercup carries her stuffed turtle with her wherever she goes!  I need to bring her turtle to the adoption events, so that when she finds her forever family, her turtle can go home with her.  She is super funny about her turtle.  The other day, she forgot it outside in the cold.  The door was shut to keep the cold outside, so she stood by the door waiting and when we let her out, she immediately ran and grabbed her turtle and came back inside (see the photo of Buttercup and her turtle taking a nap on her cot).

3)  Buttercup is the BEST dog park dog or a pup that you can take for a beer somewhere, like The Dog Society, which has a dog play area.  She is also an amazing running partner and likes to go for walks.  We have been working with her so that she learns not to “pull” hard on walks and she has made great progress! Our 7 year old has been able to walk her and keep a hold of her leash.  She loves all dogs of any size, is great with kids, and is kennel and potty trained.  She sleeps in her kennel through the night.  During the day she has been in her kennel 2-5 hours and does well, especially if she is given a chew treat or TV/music is left on during the daytime.  When she is out in the yard, she only barks if another dog should bark or if someone comes to the gate. Otherwise she keeps herself entertained by checking things out in the yard, looking for something to play with or chew.

4)  We first started to foster Buttercup in October and she has been with our family most of the time since then (minus a week or so during the holidays).  She is a silly and energetic girl!  She is learning the rules of the house, however she is very smart and catches on quickly.  In fact she actually used her intelligence the first month or so trying to figure out ways around the rules.  LOL!  With consistency on our part, she assimilated well.  Buttercup would do best with a knowledgeable dog owner, who will keep up on her training.

If you would like to schedule a “meet and greet” without submitting an application, please email us at animalrescuers@icloud.com to schedule a short phone call.  We can schedule a meet and greet anywhere within 15 miles of the 92110 zip code. You can also attend any of our upcoming adoption events or one of our social events, like our monthly Pack Hikes where a few of our ARWOB adoptable dogs will take a hike with our volunteers.  You can check our social media posts for upcoming social events on our Facebook or Instagram accounts and you can always check www.arwob.org under our Events page for more information about upcoming adoption events too!  Buttercup is waiting to meet you, so come on down!!

More about this rescue

The A.R.W.O.B. group is based in San Diego, CA and operates mostly in Mexico as well as Southern California and will come to the aid of any animal in need which crosses our path. Our belief is to do what we can in order to “Make a difference in their lives.” From experience we have observed and feel the companion animals of Mexico are in the greatest need and accordingly we focus much of our efforts in Baja, Mexico. However, we certainly extend our help to our north of the border critters by accepting relinquished family pets, exiting both dogs and cats from the shelters of San Diego and of course by working in conjunction with other animal rescue groups in the community
