My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Isabel von Irsee is a stunning, 3-4 -year-old Shepherd-mix. This beautiful, sweet love bug has decided to prove that real diamonds - the highest quality ones - are not found in mines but in German Shepherds! This amazing girl is flawless in every way. Isabel is what it means to bring awesomeness into your life - easygoing personality, super-loving, enjoys being petted all over and likes to follow you around. But wait, that’s not all! She’s also a well-behaved girl who knows her “Sit” and takes treats gently - gentleness seems to be at the core of her being. She always looks up to you for guidance and is a superstar in playgroups too! She goes in comfortably, happy, and is very friendly and social. Isabel appeared curious about what everyone is doing and enjoys her time there with all the dogs and people. Never forgetful of her humans, she keeps coming up to the attendants for petting. This gem also seems promising with cats. Rush to make her yours today, before she has to sift through too many applications!

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
