My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Max is such a sweet guy! He is a 7 yr old Great Dane who loves hugs and attention and will definitely let you know when he’s ready for more. One of his favorite pastimes is sleeping on the couch. Having a stuffed animal nearby is a must. Max knows “sit” and is working on basic commands. His leash skills need work as he gets very excited when walking past other dogs, but he loves to get out on a leisurely walk every day. Max came to the rescue with a friend who was adopted, so we think he will do best with a dog-friend in his new home.

He cannot go to a home with small dogs, or chickens.

Home Check

Home visits are being done virtually due to Covid.

3.
Meet the Pet

The majority of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. Fosters will contact you to schedule a meeting with you and your dog.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

Contracts will be signed through your AnimalsFirst account. Please have your login information prior to meeting the dog.

5.
Pay Fee

Payment will be made through your AnimalsFirst account. Please have your login information prior to meeting the dog.

6.
Take the Pet Home

Don't forget an adoption picture! We like to post adoption pictures to our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Go meet their pets

Over 75% of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. The foster will get in touch to schedule meetings for their foster dog. Meetings will happen in/near their homes since that is where the dog is the most comfortable. We do want you to bring family members (human and dog) to the meeting! Dogs who are currently at our Windsor facility will have meetings there and a volunteer will reach out to schedule those meetings with you. Please be aware that we do not place our dogs on a first come, first served basis, but rather a best-fit placement. Never fear, applications are valid for a year so if the first dog you meet isn't a good fit, we will have plenty of time to find one that is.
