My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you!

Introducing Ariel - the perfect balance of "outdoorsy" and "Netflix and chill." This pup is all about chasing after toys and exploring new places on walks, but also loves winding down with her humans for some cuddle time.

She may be a little shy around new people, but once you earn her trust, she's a velcro dog through and through. And let's not forget those gentle kisses - swoon! She's a smarty-pants too, always eager to please for a treat.

Her previous foster family says she's already house trained, so no need to worry about any accidents. She is also crate-trained.

All in all, Ariel is looking for a loving family who can give her the patience she needs to feel right at home. Apply now, and get ready for some serious snuggle sessions.

Other Dogs: Ariel used to live with another dog before her owner passed away. The two of them ended up at a high-intake shelter in the south and Lighthouse pulled them both. Her brother found his forever home, and now Ariel is patiently waiting for hers!

Ariel can sometimes be reactive toward other dogs when on-leash. Her reactivity stems from overexcitement and wanting to play right away with another dog.

Cats: Unknown - she can be tested for applicants

More about this rescue

At Lighthouse Animal Shelter, an all volunteer, 501(c)3 organization, we promote the welfare of animals at risk of euthanasia. We also work with the community to maximize efforts in reducing pet overpopulation.

We rescue the majority of our dogs from high-intake shelters down south (the majority being from Kentucky, South Carolina & North Carolina) and get organize transport to our New Bedford shelter for adoption. We focus on last-call death row dogs.

The cats in our care are all local strays or surrenders and are generally adults to seniors.
