My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, everyone! My name is Rufus, and I'm a handsome Black Labrador Retriever in search of my forever home. Sadly, my previous owner surrendered me because they're going off to college in July, and their parents aren't able to care for me.
I've been with my current owner since I was just a pup of 6 months, so we've shared many wonderful years together. I'm a friendly, affectionate, and athletic dog. Growing up, I've been fortunate to be part of a large family, surrounded by lots of people and children, and I absolutely adore their company.
I'm looking for a home that can provide me with plenty of love, exercise, and mental stimulation. I'm a smart boy who loves learning new things and pleasing my humans. So far, I've mastered commands like sit, leave it, and heel. With a little patience and positive reinforcement, I'm eager to learn even more! I enjoy running and playing with my favorite ball. I'm always up for a game of fetch or a fun run at the park. Car rides are another one of my favorite things, so if you enjoy road trips or just need a four-legged companion for your adventures, count me in!. While I get along well with people of all ages and both men and women, I must admit that I have a bit of a playful chase instinct when it comes to small animals like cats and chickens. So, it's probably best if I find a home without any furry feline friends. However, when I'm out on walks, I'm generally well-behaved and ignore other dogs.
I'm housebroken, although I haven't had much opportunity to roam freely indoors as I'm usually in my crate. Speaking of crates, I'm quite comfortable in them and find them to be my safe space. Additionally, I'm doing fairly well on a leash, and with a little guidance and corrections, I'm learning to walk nicely by your side. One of my quirks is that I have this fascination with fidget spinners, and sometimes I chase my own tail as if it were one. It's quite entertaining to watch, and I'm sure it'll bring a smile to your face!
If you're an active individual or family who can provide me with the love & exercise. I would be thrilled to be a part of your life. I promise to be a loyal, loving, and playful companion who will bring joy to your days. Let's create lasting memories together. Will you be the one to give me a second chance at a forever home?
