My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a squishy faced sweetheart? Let us introduce you to Candidia! This sweet 10-year-old Pit Bull mix is ready to fill your life with sloppy, wet kisses and tail wags. Candidia recently underwent surgery to remove a grape-sized mass, which our veterinarian identified as mast cell. While the removal was successful, the prognosis is bittersweet. Our vet suggests that she may only have 6 months to a year left. We are hoping for a hospice adopter so that Candidia can spend her remaining days in the comfort of home.

Candidia is crate-trained, knows some basic commands, and loves to zoom around the yard. Candidia walks well on the leash and loves going out on Dog's Day Outings with volunteers. She has been cat tested and had good interactions.

Additional adoption info

We encourage everyone interested in adopting a new pet to come visit the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter to view the wonderful selection of cats, dogs and small animals we have available for adoption. When you see an animal you are interested in, come in as soon as possible as we are first come, first serve and are unable to place HOLDS on pets over the phone.

Speak to an Adoption Counselor at our Adoption Center regarding your interest to adopt and they will advise you of the Hold and Adoption process. All pets adopted from our facility are microchipped, spayed or neutered and vaccinated for Rabies prior to being released to the adopter. This is required by Texas State Law for any animal adopted from an animal shelter or rescue group. We do allow out of area adoptions as long as the selected pet is old enough to receive these services prior to being released to the adopter.
