My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LOCATION: Oxford, Pennsylvania
DOB: 05/25/2020 (Estimate)

Welcome to the pack, sweet Dani-girl! Dani is a cutie Dane mix that has the loving Dane temperament in a little smaller package! It’s the best of both worlds.

Dani has never met a stranger! She’s friendly with anyone and everyone. Several times, her foster momma has taken her to local pet-friendly stores and she’s even gotten to go walk a nearby track and she did beautifully. She’s super sweet and just wants to say a polite hi to everyone.

Dani likes jerky treats, peanut butter, belly rubs and car ride adventures. When she is unhappy about being told no she has a cute little “whoo, whoo” she does to talk back and express her opinion.

She doesn’t know many commands but is trying very hard to learn. She will push through any door or gate she thinks she can open so her foster has been working a lot on Wait and Dani’s getting very good at it. Sit is harder due to a previous leg issue but she continues to try. She still pulls on the leash but that’s improving all the time as well. For outside, she does need supervision and a sturdy, tall fence as she can Houdini her way through, under and over. She doesn’t try to leave, just find her people who she loves.

Dani loves to be around people and will quietly follow her foster around the house and lay near her in whatever room her momma is working. She does have separation anxiety and though she doesn’t seem inclined to destroy anything, she does go into a crate when she needs to be unsupervised. She doesn’t mind the crate at all. She’s housebroken and good about going to the door if she needs to go out.

Miss Girl does get very excited about attention and possible snuggles and she jumps up pretty hard. They are working on emotional control but she needs a bit more work before she’s around small kids. Older kids probably wouldn’t be an issue. She doesn’t seem to have much of an opinion on horses. She will chase a cat that runs but if they hold their ground she is either too timid to approach or does so very cautiously and in a friendly manner. The chase seems to just be a natural play reaction. She seems good around other dogs so far.

Dani had her last ever litter of puppers who have all moved on to their own homes. Now it’s her turn to start some new adventures with a forever family!!!

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
