My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bowie is a special boy is looking for his special home.
Please read Bowie's entire profile before inquiring or applying for him.

Bowie, born around January 2022, is approximately 60 lbs of mischief and joy. He is 50% Husky, 40% Poodle, 10% lab and 100% total energy! He is best thought of as a goofy and playful puppy. They call him 'the missile' at the park as he rockets into the park with excitement.

Bowie and his sister Margo originally came from the south to a local shelter. The shelter determined that both dogs would thrive better in a foster home and they came to All Dog Rescue. While they are bonded and we would love to see them adopted together, they can be adopted separately as long as there is a confident resident dog who can help them become the best they can be.

Bowie thrives being with other dogs and is his playful, goofy self in canine company. He has not done well as the only dog in a household but will consider an 'only-dog' home on a case-by-case basis. He loves to wrestle in the yard, play chase with the other dogs, and play keep-away with his favorite stuffed toys. A perfect day for him involves playing in the dog park, going on walks, and playing in the back yard. Bowie gets very excited when he sees his leash because he enjoys his walks so much He can get a little too excited when he sees other dogs or critters but his special harness helps with that.

Bowie also settles down and curls up on the sofa with his foster mom. He is house-trained, does very well in the car, and looks forward to every meal.

Bowie's ideal home is an adult-only, dog savvy, home with a confident, playful dog of similar size and activity level. He can be too much for senior dogs. While a fenced-in backyard would be the best for him as he has a ton of energy to burn, he may do well if he can go to a dog park daily. He has a high prey drive so he cannot be offleash unless fenced in.

We are working on him being left alone in the company of other dogs. He will need someone who is often home or willing to take him to doggie daycare until he can be left alone for a longer time period.

Note that while is mixed with a poodle, we do not consider him hypoallergenic. Many people with dog allergies have experienced allergic reactions in his presence.

Bowie is microchipped, neutered, on flea/tick/heartworm preventive, and up to date on his shots.

Additional adoption info

To adopt a dog from us, you must be over the age of 21. To begin the process, first fill out an adoption application. The foster provider will then set up a telephone interview to determine if you and the dog are a good match for each other. The next step is for you to come and visit the dog at the foster home. Then we will do a home visit at your residence before finalizing the adoption. The final step is for you to pick up your new dog from the foster home. Ongoing contact will be maintained with you to see how it's going and offer training suggestions and behavior advice.

The adoption fee ranges from $250-$500 for most adult dogs (decided on a case-by-case basis). This is to help defray the costs of spaying, neutering, transportation and other medical expenses. All dogs are spayed or neutered, examined by a vet, given medical shots and treated for any medical condition they may have, prior to adoption. Donations above the adoption fee are always welcome!

To apply for one of our dogs, please fill out an Adoption Application at www.alldogrescue.org. A volunteer will respond to your application within 48 hours. If you have a question about one of our dogs, you can email us at info@alldogrescue.org and we'll be happy to try to answer it.
