Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Master is a two-year-old English Cream Golden! He was surrendered by a commercial breeder instead of going into their breeding program. He is currently in foster care but needs a forever home & family!
In the house he is the perfect house guest and will settle down with you when you settle down. He has an endearing way of coming up to you for massages and ear rubs. Outside, on leash, he loves to rest on the lawn and watch his human’s work.
We are working on recognizing our name, sit and come. it took him only one day to get the “sit” mastered and and he just learned down. For right now, instead of come, he responds to a whistle. One skill he does have is when he is approached with a leash, he will pancake on the floor to make it easier for you to “hook him up.” He is learning to take treats and and will take them gently.
He had a bath both outside and in the lake and we brushed his coat, but he did not like to have his teeth brushed one bit! It also took some coaxing to get him to go in the lake but once in he stayed with us and walked around in the water. He road well in the pontoon boat and took in all the new sights and sounds. He has enjoyed a ball in his mouth for a minute or two while rolling around on the lawn. He is also going to play with her resident golden and will take toys out of the toy box and leave them all around the house like a typical golden.
Greeting new dogs seems to go well and he really would like to keep up with the resident dog who runs rather than walks everywhere. A fenced in yard is a must for this boy as he wants to run free and as are all breeder dogs, Master is a flight risk.
Master is a big baby when it comes to getting into the car. He will “pancake” himself and we have to lift his paws and give him a hoist into the back seat. Once in the car he rides well and will alternate between sightseeing and sleeping. This week he did jump in to the car and jumped out immediately.
This English Cream is a solid 56 pounds and all muscle. He is learning how to walk on a leash and can give you quite a tug! Frequent walks seem to help as does turning around and going the other way when he pulls. He loves long, long sniffs and you can just see him trying to categorize the smell. He does have a prey drive when it comes to critters, especially small ones so having a good handle on the leash is important, especially in the woods where we walk
Master does not know how to give you a signal to go outside, so we take them for frequent trips around the yard.
When presented with the crate during the day, he resists and then lets you guide him in. He has been sleeping outside the crate with the resident dog and is doing quite well.
This gentle giant recovered well from his neuter surgery and is now ready to find his forever home. Master is looking for a family without small children as they can be too busy for his comfort zone. Master is a flight risk, so a fence is required to keep him safe, and he really benefits from having a confident mentor dog as he learns more about life as a family dog.
Master is ready to find his forever home with people who will help him to continue to flourish and grow. To learn more about this handsome boy please go to https://grrow.org/master-23-042/
