My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

** KIRA REQUIRES A 6 FT FENCE **

Introducing Kira! This happy wiggle-butt is a 3-year-old girl who is so ready to have a family of her own.  But did you know there is something called Black Dog Syndrome? That's right.  For some reason, black dogs are less likely to be adopted.  So she's watched all her other rescue friends frolic off to their new homes, yet she still remains.  We don't understand.

She's the total package.  Thanks to the wonderful folks at Puppies for Paroles, she has completed a 12-week training program and has basic manners down.

She loves to do typical pittie wrestles and tug and is a pro at zoomies.  She is excellent at playing with dogs who match her energy and size, though she is also learning how to be gentle with one of the older dogs she is near lately.  Due to her natural prey drive, small dogs and cats are probably not a great fit.  She can be very vocal, so no apartments or condos.

Kira is not just your average pup – she's incredibly smart and loves to challenge her mind. You'll often find her engrossed in food puzzles, showcasing her problem-solving skills and intelligence.  Have you ever seen those dogs who can speak by pressing the talking buttons? Well she is starting to learn how to "touch" and "boop" so we think she would make a perfect candidate for the next talking dog superstar on social media.

This sweet girl is looking for a family who understands the importance of continued training and guidance. With her loving heart, irresistible charm, and sharp mind,  Kira is sure to bring endless love and happiness to her new home. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this precious soul, Kira can't wait to meet you!

More about this rescue

Needy Paws Rescue, located in St. Louis, MO, is devoted to saving animals in need, whose lives are in danger at high kill animal shelters & animal controls, those who are strays, have been abandoned or whose family has faced an extreme emergency, regardless of their size or breed.

Our organization is made up of Volunteers who have been involved in various animal rescues in the St. Louis area and we plan to use our knowledge & experience to make a difference. We believe spaying & neutering is a very important step in keeping pets healthy & happy, plus it helps decrease overpopulation. All of our rescued animals will be spayed or neutered, they will be microchipped to ensure they are identifiable if lost or stolen and they will be current on all of their vaccinations before going to their Forever Homes.

We are foster-based and all pets stay in approved Foster Homes that have passed inspections, reference checks and are qualified to take care of our rescued animals while they wait for their Forever Family. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will be making home visits and conducting veterinarian checks & reference checks to ensure the pets will have a safe, loving, happy home. Forever Families will be taught how to care for their pet and learn how to get the most out of their relationship with their new family member. We also have an after-care specialist who will be in contact with the families after the adoption to see how well they're doing together
