My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Retriever + Collie mix | 15 months | Female | 45 lbs
*We cannot guarantee breed nor age.
Temperament: Playful! Cuddly! Sweet!
Activity level: Medium energy.
Vetting: Core vaccines (DH2PP, Rabies, Bordetella), spayed, microchipped, dewormed, 4DX blood test - snap test (negative), on flea/tick/heartworm prevention.
Housebroken: Had one accident when she first arrived (likely due to nerves) but none since.
Good with Dogs: Yes! Is currently fostered with one.
Good with Cats: Not tested.
Good with Children: It is thought so; however, she should be watched around her toys because she will try to take them back.
Any noted prey drive: Gets very excited to see other dogs but her and her foster are both learning that if a dog is approaching, they could move out to the sidewalk and sit and wait for them to pass. Billie is making good progress with this and responds especially well to lots of encouragement. Her foster says “I need to be aware of when dogs or groups of people are approaching so we have lots of time to move off the sidewalk and be calm when they pass by.”
How do they respond to the outdoors: Loves to be outside, including in the water!
Crate-Trained: Yes! She goes into her crate when her foster leaves the house and also to sleep at night. She may bark a few minutes when crated during the day but nighttime has become very easy and quiet.
Any resource guarding: Yes, with high-value toys or treats; e.g. a bone.
Response to commands: Very good at “sit” and “down.” Becoming quite good at dropping the ball when playing fetch. Needs more focused training (e.g. stay, leave it) which her foster expects she will respond well to. She certainly wants to please!
Are they vocal: She barks occasionally when she wants attention or in those first few minutes in the crate.
Leash Etiquette: Improving with every walk. She often pulls right out of the gate but settles quickly with firm leadership. She is learning to sit and stay while other dogs pass (without direction she will pull towards them with curiosity and a clear desire to play).
Transportation: Antsy/anxious at first, but settles after a while; no signs of being carsick. Not tested on public transit.

Meet Billie! Her foster family describes her as playful, sweet and so super cuddly. She loves to lay at their feet and offers up lots of cuddles. Billie enjoys going for long walks outside and is especially cute when rolling around in the grass, which she does a lot. Other dogs can sometimes overexcite her, as can lots of people in busy settings (she just wants to say hi to everyone!) so she’s currently learning not to pull so much and a Halti has helped lots. She likes being around other dogs just as much as she does people, including her foster brother – she is always following him around and looking to play. One of the cutest things she does, according to her foster fam, is that sometimes when she’s running and gets overly excited, she does like a little leap and then adorably stumbles, but she’ll still keep going.
Billie’s ideal family will be people who enjoy the outdoors and can take her along on their adventures. They will also have a big backyard, or access to a public outdoor space, where she can run around and play a lot. That being said, she has a real talent for scaling fences; therefore, supervision while outside is necessary, especially if she is trying to get to her humans (i.e. if they’re on the other side of a fence). Since Billie is working on some training, they will be patient and understanding. At first, Billie may seem a bit anxious, especially when being transported, but once she warms up to you and feels comfortable, she’s very affectionate and loving.
