My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pippin is a hoot and a half! Not only is he a gorgeous little guy, he is incredibly entertaining. He spent the first few of months of his life at the vets office, so he was used to a small, confined space most of the time. When he came to his foster home at about 4 months, he was very overwhelmed and terrified of everything. He acted exactly like a feral kitten for 24-36 hours before his need for love was just too much for him to resist. He hissed and growled for a few days while being loved on and/or rubbing all over us - which was pretty funny. He decided having lots of room to run and play, not to mention having other foster siblings to play and snuggle with, was The. Best. Ever.  He earned his name (Pippin Took - Lord of the Rings trilogy) within the first few days - he was so clumsy and accident prone! He ran through the water bowls, turned over the food bowls when running through them, miscalculated distance and height, face planted into and off of everything…he was on a mission to make up for those first few months being confined and he was unstoppable! I’m happy to report that he is not as clumsy as he was at first, but his name is still very fitting.

Pippin loves cuddling and is pretty demanding when he wants love. He is crazy playful, with high energy just like you’d expect in a kitten his age. Pippin has not been around children and was only exposed to dogs through confinement while at the vet. He is super social however and has a perfect temperament- I feel completely sure that he can adjust to any family situation.

You can submit an adoption application for Pippin at http://www.myhstc.org/cats. Please email hstcpurrs@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like more information on Pippin.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption fee for dogs is $85 and cats $75 (we will discount if more than one pet is adopted at the same time or the adoptee is taking on some type of medical care). We do allow out-of-state adoptions, however, transportation is the responsibility of the adopter.

We require a completed adoption application with a vet reference provided. We screen all applications prior to a meet and greet and we will call your vet to verify your information. Adoption applications are approved on a case-by-case basis, taking into consideration matching the needs of the pet to an owner. Some long distance adoptions may also require a home visit from a local animal rescuer in the adopter’s area.

HSTC is an all volunteer organization - we have no paid staff and we DO NOT have a shelter. The majority of our pets are in individual foster homes with fosters who work full time jobs - some of our dogs are in boarding at one of our vet's offices. We make every effort to respond to questions and make contact on applications within 24-48 hours of receiving them. Please be patient with us.

Go meet their pets

HSTC partners with the local PetSmart store in Albany Georgia in adopting our cats into permanent homes. We rotate our cats every two weeks to keep them from getting too bored or stressed while in the adoption center. Our foster homes are happy to work with anyone that would like information on any of our cats that are not currently in rotation and housed at the PetSmart adoption center. Please do not hesitate to email us for information on how to meet your new best friend!

HSTC holds small adoption events at PetSmart in Albany, GA on the first and third weekends of each month where you can meet some of our dogs available for adoption. PetSmart Charities holds national adoption events during the months of February, May, September and November and HSTC participates in each of these national events. HSTC does not hold our normal first and third weekend events during the months of the national adoption events. We are happy to schedule a meet and greet with potential adopters who would like to meet particular dogs once an application is approved.
