My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Skye
Husky - 1-2years old - Female

Skye is the mother to Daisy, Tommy, Stevie, Gillian and Ellyn. When she was first picked up as a stray dog in Lassen County the animal control officers didn't even realize she was pregnant! A few days later there were puppies in her kennel, what a surprise!

Now that she's had time to raise her little ones (she has been a FANTASTIC mom!) it's time for her to focus on herself. She's so young and it's clear that she is just a pup herself. She's playful and mischievous, as any good husky should be! Her future family should be active and be ready to give lots of belly rubs.

Skye has a pretty high prey drive and would not be a good candidate for a home with cats or other small critters such as chickens or rabbits. She has done well with all dogs we have introduced her to so far and has a very pleasant temperament with other dogs. She can be wary of new people at first, especially men, but treats absolutely help! Typically she warms up within a few minutes and then she will literally be in your lap!

We believe Skye is between 1-2 years old. She is fully vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. She will need to wait 2 weeks post-weaning her puppies to be spayed, so if that doesn't happen before she goes home a voucher will be provided to cover the cost of that at our vet!

Their adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Potential adopters will submit an application (available on our website or we can send via email).

2.

Approve Application

Our applications are a way for us to make sure the animal and human will be a good fit. The pet is then considered pending adoption.

3.

Meet the Pet

Adopters meet with the pet with a staff member. We want to make sure all your questions are answered during this time!

4.

Home Check

During the initial meet, plans will be made for transitioning the pet into the adopter's home.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

During the home check, we will go over the adoption contract. Adoption fees are usually collected at this time.

6.

Take the Pet Home

Every pet and human is different, some may need a longer transition. We will discuss individual plans prior to the pet going home.

Additional adoption info

Every adoption is unique. One pet may need a slow transition into their new home and one may be able to go home the day of the initial visit. We move at the pace of each individual animal.

Go meet their pets

While we do not have a public facility, our pets will be promoted on social media, via our website and other pet finding websites. We attend adoption events in the Reno, Sparks and Carson City areas.

More about this rescue

Pawsibilities is a 501c3 titled non-profit haven for animals who have been abandoned or surrendered to high kill shelters. Our goal is to rehabilitate them, emotionally and physically, and find them permanent homes.
We travel to overcrowded and under trafficked shelters to rescue animals that have run out of time. With a group of highly trained volunteers, we take the time to evaluate each individual animal’s needs and provide unique care to help them succeed in life after shelter.

No matter how long it takes, we are devoted to each animal that comes into our doors for their entire life. We provide educational support for families before and after adoption. We are committed to keeping animals in their homes. At Pawsibilities we believe that all it takes is patience, understanding and a loving hand to help each and every animal find the perfect match.

We believe we can achieve a world where there are no homeless pets through advocation of spaying and neutering our animals.

The tragedy of overcrowded shelters is the same in every area and while many shelters and rescues are striving for a no-kill policy, the reality is that thousands of animals are killed in shelters each week across the nation. There simply is not enough room. We strive every day to educate on the benefits of spaying and neutering. For every dog or cat that doesn't have a litter, many other animals can be saved.

Every animal who leaves our care will be spayed or neutered and up to date on proper vaccinations.Through donations we will expand our housing facilities to include any species of animal that needs our help. We plan to include areas for dogs, cats, small animals, farm animals (including horses, cows, pigs, chickens, etc), reptiles and rodents. Any animal that needs help will have a safe place and a voice with us.
