My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This handsome senior is Woody - he's an 8.5 year old German Shepherd who weighs about 82 pounds.  Woody hasn't always had the best life, but despite his past, he is the sweetest boy and loves to be around his people!

Woody loves laying outside in the sunshine, as long as his person is near.  He loves naps in general, especially with his little canine foster buddy!  Woody does great with other dogs, even the little ones - he does not pester them and he's very gentle when he plays.

Our sweet boy does not like to be alone. Even though he's a senior, he is still very athletic and has the ability to hop a 4-foot fence in order to go looking for his person.  He'll do best with a taller fence and supervision when outside, at least until he gets comfortable in his new home and understands that he isn't being abandoned.

Woody is house trained, he takes treats gently, and he is a quick learner!  He knows "sit," "come," his name, and he will wait at the door until you say "go on" or "come in."  His foster mom says he's a snuggle-bug and loves to sleep next to you."

He can be wary of new people, but he warms up quickly.  We believe he will do best in a home with older kids who are respectful of his space.  Whoever ends up with Woody is going to be a very lucky person!!

If you are interested in Woody, please apply today!  His minimum adoption fee is $295 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.

He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
