Mina was found roaming with a companion, Mitch, in a park in Houston. Someone had been feeding her for a few months and said that her and Mitch had been living in the park and chasing cars. Mina and Mitch never let strangers approach them, but when an SSR volunteer went to go see them, the dogs came right up to the volunteer like it was always meant to be.
Mina arrived to Virginia on February 2nd, 2023, but has been in a boarding facility as there were no fosters available to take her. She would love nothing more than to have a forever home, or even a foster home while she's waiting.
She is very sweet and takes treats very gently when volunteers are speaking one on one time with her. Mina loves people, but can also be timid when there is a lot going on, such as during adoption events. She walks great on a leash and is doesn't pull despite having no formal training. Mina can sometimes be jumpy, but it's out of affection and looking for love. She loves running around in the yard and playing with other dogs. We' Mina does not mind cats but will chase if they run and she thinks they are playing. She plays rough with all our other dogs (7lbs to 60 lbs). She very basic leash training. She is wants to chase/investigate anything new while walking. Knows her name, comes when called if on long leash. Comes when she wants time in the yard. She should have canine playmate as she has always been with another dog. Needs a fence; she likes to engage with critters outside the yard. Humans need to be aware that surprise hugs are met with cowering.
