Hi there! I am Chuck, a super sweet 8-year old terrier mix boy weighing in at about 17 pounds. I came to SBRET with a previous back injury so my hind legs do not work very well. They don’t really know how or when I got hurt, but it hasn’t really affected my happiness or attitude! I have learned to go down steps but still have some difficulty going up stairs. There are stairs in my foster home so my foster mom and dad help me go up or carry me up the steps.
I love being around my humans so I follow foster mom and dad around the house just in case they want to pet me :). When my foster parents have to leave the house, they put me in an indoor expen although lately they haven't been doing that because I am doing so well with house training. I walk fine on a leash and will enjoy short walks around the neighborhood. I do enjoy the fenced backyard and even manage to run with my wonky hind legs! I get along great with the older dogs in my foster home, but was not too happy with a visiting playful young dog and meeting new dogs so I would be best as an only dog. I am fine with car rides - you do need to lift me up to help me in and out of the car. Since my hind legs don't work too well, I am on Dasuquin joint supplements and my new owner may need to continue doing that. The vet said I have a Grade 3 out of 6 heart murmur but I don't need any meds for that - yay! - it just needs to be monitored during future vet visits.
