My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Berty is a 15 year old short-haired, gray and white tuxedo girl. Being around people is her most favorite thing ever! She loves to lay next to you on the couch or on top of you. She is a loungy little cat with a great appetite that gets spurts of playful energy. It is so cute when she gets hyper and bats her little mouse or ball around! But life was not always so pleasant for Berty. She was abandoned by her family at an apartment building in Monterey Park. She spent about 10 years wandering this apartment building and relying on the kindness of tenants for a warm night or any scraps of food they may have. Obviously, she was not on the greatest diet and quality of life. When we decided to take her in as our foster she came with some issues. Her entire back area was completely matted. It was obvious she had not been grooming. Because of this, we suspected mouth issues. She was examined and had blood work done. It turned out some teeth in her mouth were becoming painful and so she had a cleaning and a few teeth pulled. She was also diagnosed with diabetes. Thankfully, with better quality of food, the diabetes seems to be in remission. Berty is such a special, grateful and loyal cat, we just know that she deserves a chance at a forever home with a loving family who understands her and appreciates her sweet and cuddly ways.
