My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Ruby! I am approximately one year old and I weigh 25 lbs. I am fostered in Danbury, North Carolina but easy, affordable transportation is available. I was surrendered to the rescue by a nice lady that was dog sitting me. My owner never returned to pick me up. I am very loving and I follow my foster around the yard and the house. I walk well on a leash and probably do not even really need one because I stay right beside my foster. I am very smart and I learn quickly. I come when I am called and I have learned sit and sit/stay. I have also learned a little bit of sign language because the lady that dog sat me had a severely autistic son that was nonverbal. I spent a lot of time with him and I would sleep with him at night. During the day I liked to nap with the cat. I am good with other dogs of all sizes and ages and like to play with them. I'm also very good at playing fetch! I am laid back and very well behaved in the house. I am fully crate trained and will potty outside. I don't ask to go out though. I have a medium energy level. Play time with another dog and a 30 minute walk a day seems to be sufficient exercise for me. I am wary of strangers so I won't get to close until I get to know them. I enjoy a good bath and being brushed. I ride well in the car. I am going to make someone a terrific companion and would really like another handicapped child to be with. I am eagerly awaiting to go to my new forever home!
