My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Seeking a positive reinforcement based temporary foster or experienced adopter for a beautiful young pup in need of a little helping hand. Nothing too serious, but if not addressed at this stage it could really hurt her chances at a long and happy life. It takes a village and this tiny organization is calling out to all village residents!!!

Beanie is very soft and sweet-natured, super silly, a bit demanding, very affiliative little dog that has mild-moderate fear related issues that we think could be addressed with a good outcome with a little time and patience. She has not displayed any aggressive behaviors to date with us. She recovers nicely from most frights and responds very well to Counter Conditioning and Desensitization. She is eager to learn and is very food motivated and really wants to be with people.

Her needs include but may not be limited to (all of these we consider quite mild-moderate): separation distress (NOT anxiety that we can ascertain, she will crate and settle after a spell), some stress around body handling, dog-dog interaction and generalized fear responses. We have not had her around children at this stage.

She is ridiculously adorable at 16 pounds, about 1 year old, with super softy soft fur and she will snuggle up next to ya when she gets comfy (and it feels good!!). She is spayed, UTD on vaccines and appears in good health. She walks nicely on a Freedom Harness, has not reacted to dogs or people so far and has a thing for squirrels. She is kennel trained and house trained (a wee bit of submissive urination). Overall she is a great little dog that needs a helping hand. We honestly do not know what breed she is, she came to us listed as a terrier, but we are not so sure. Maybe though. She is shaped like a Dachshund, has Papillon ears, and has JRT terrier markings - a mix of adorable!

If you are experienced with what the kind of behaviors Beanie is displaying requires to address and can help her, even temporarily, we need you!!! She is a little diamond under there, we just know it. She has so much love inside her and a patient human is all it takes to let this little girl blossom. She responds just so well..
