Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet sweet little Mable.
Mable is said to be a blend between beagle and Chow maybe a shepherd of a sort too. Mable is just under 2 years of age, 35 pounds dog, cat, and people-friendly. She can be somewhat timid meeting new people but she adjusts well and easily overcomes her shyness
Mable was adopted out as a puppy from a southern Indiana shelter at 3/4 months old and lived until last December outdoors at the end of a chain of isolation. Surrendered to the same shelter where she was adopted from a year later.
A plea for rescue was placed as they feared the isolated life at the end of a chain may have caused behavior deterioration.
Mable has been spayed, vetted, tested for heartworm, lyme, and treated for parasites. As well as received 2 separate surgeries on both eyes 5 months apart due to severe cherry eyes and entropion eyelids both top and bottom.
Mable is 35 ish pounds just under 2 years of age and such a beautiful sweet active playful pushy good-way personality.
His eagerness to please happy go lucky still very much a puppy spirit is delightful. She enjoys toys and has never had any, she loves walks, enjoys car rides, and meeting new dogs and people too. Upon her arrival, we notice she was timid when
meeting anyone new but easily overcame her shyness effortlessly.
Little girl Mable is very social when it comes to other animals. She is happy-go-lucky playful welcoming and joyful with dogs, cats, and all critters we have exposed her to.
Mable training is excellent. She has worked so hard and it shows. She walks perfectly on a leash, her recall is good but needs a little more work, and has her basic obedience on point. No jumping up or mouthing people either. She has worked hard and has come a long way. Especially for living such an isolated neglected lifestyle for most of her life. Mable is very food of all types, toys, and praise motivated. She just loves interacting with people and playing. She will make a great apartment dog too if her energy level is matched. Mable is the perfect dog. She's become the perfect dog. A home with another playful dog, daily simple walks, and access to a fence in the yard would be great. Mable is still very puppy and has a lot of exploring and catching up to do still. She is determined to make up for lost time.
Mable is house and crate trained and her new people must be dedicated to continuing so, current to date on all appropriate core vaccines including lepto & corona, 1 or 3-year rabies, dewormed, fecal tested negative, microchipped including free registration for life, spay/neutered, heartworm & lyme diseases tested negative upon adoption, and on monthly heartworm flea/tick prevention.
Out-of-state adopters are welcome at the adopter's expense. We do NOT ship and meet and greet are required before adoption unless you are a previous adopter.
Previous adopters of AHS have the first choice and are not expected to pay another adoption fee again. Donation of their choice is welcomed.
Training is an ongoing process that needs to be worked on daily. New issues and opportunities arise daily that have to be addressed and or rewarded. Continued training is a must.
Adoption process information can be found on our website

Adoption Fee of $325 covers all of the above and everyday needs/care.

More about this rescue
Every animal in our care comes to us with their own story. Many of them have had it harder than others, and have scars that need a healing touch. What they all have in common, is that they came to us from other rescues/shelters that felt they couldn’t take on their individual needs, and give them the necessary care needed to help them bloom into family pets. Most pets we welcome into our program, need extensive behavior and/or medical care before they are ready for their forever homes. We provide each pet with an unlimited amount of time to recover, along with individualized care and training customized to there needs.
We at Animal House Sanctuary love a challenge and have a soft spot for these special pets in need. Most of all, we love seeing each individual pet change into the family pet they were always meant to be. Watching this firsthand, is beyond rewarding and fills us with a joy that cannot be described in words.
We are a 501(c) Licensed Nonprofit organization that is ran 100% by Volunteers. Our mission is to help homeless animals find great forever homes. Our heart is with the community, helping families keep their pets at home. We are involved with informing our local community about the importance of spaying/neutering their pets. We also help feed the homeless and their pets. Senior pets are precious and dear to our hearts which is why we are involved with the Hospice Heaven program. This consists of pulling older cats and dogs from high kill shelters and placing them in a loving home. This often includes matching senior pets with a Senior Adaptor. Sharing joy and respect for all precious life is something that we love doing, and will continue to do, for it fills our hearts.
