Sky is a four year old male Shih Tzu, who is a big boy at 19 pounds. His foster mom has affectionately nicknamed him “Big Sky”. Hamish is a two year old male Shih Tzu and weighs 12 pounds. Hamish has the biggest eyes with beautiful dark lashes.
Sky and Hamish came into rescue after their owner passed away. They were very loved and well cared for by the previous owner, and we'll be looking for the same from the adopters, where these two will be the focus of their lives. Hamish has lived with Sky his entire life and they should not be separated, so they will be adopted together as a bonded pair. They bounce around the house, hanging out with their foster mom and have easily adjusted to their new surroundings. They are healthy and enjoy walks in the cooler morning air, but Sky especially does not do well in the heat and needs to be indoors with the AC running. They get along well with everyone they meet and do well with other dogs, especially after getting a chance to get to know them. Hamish is very curious about any dog or person he sees, and Sky joins him to see what all the excitement is about.
The ideal home for Sky and Hamish is one where the family is home most of the time with them, and their lives will revolve around these two. The boys are real sweethearts who just want to hang out and have your attention, or just rest alongside you. Sky needs to lose a few pounds, so his adopters should enjoy being active, and helping him lose weight by taking long daily walks and providing a healthy, portion controlled diet. Hamish is younger and has more energy and wants to play and run in their foster mom’s fenced back yard. They both enjoy finding food or treats in Kong toys. The boys were trained to drink from a bottle dispenser; Sky will only drink from a bottle, and Hamish prefers it. The adopter should live within 75 miles of New Brighton, MN.
The following are requirements for Sky and Hamish’s adoptive family:
1. The boys must be adopted together and live together for the rest of their lives.
2. The family must be home most of the day and include Sky and Hamish in their daily activities.
3. A secure, fenced yard would be preferred, but not a deal breaker.
4. Family must commit to helping Sky lose weight by providing regular daily exercise and a healthy, portion controlled diet.
5. A family with children over the age of ten will be considered.
6. Family should live within 75 miles of New Brighton, MN and agree to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September.
Both boys are neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Their adoption fee is $690.00 plus $51.92 sales tax for a total of $741.92 for the pair.
