My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MORGAN IS APART OF OUR SENIORS' FOSTER PROGRAM!!

Morgan is still waiting on her forever home. She has come SO very far since being minutes away from euthanasia. She is Miss Congenitally!! She has the most adorable personality!!! She smiles SO big when her humans come home! She ADORES cats!! She is great with all the dogs in her foster home and loves adult people. She does NOT like kids. At all. We don’t know what happened to make her so opposed, but whatever it was has scarred her. She is housebroken, crate trained and knows American Sign Language. She is deaf, but that doesn’t slow her down a bit! If anything it comes in handy in her very busy foster home. Morgan would do best in a home where she can bask in the sunshine and enjoy the chill of the AC. She loves her foster humans, and is perfectly content in her bed by herself. To meet this incredible tater tot, please visit our website to learn more about her and to submit an application. Additional adoption info

BEFORE APPLYING, PLEASE READ BELOW TO MAKE SURE YOU QUALIFY:

1. All Dogs and Cats in your home MUST be spayed or neutered. We will call your vet to verify this. We allow exceptions in rare medical instances upon verification with your vet only.

2. All Dogs and Cats in your home MUST be current and have been kept historically up to date on annual vaccinations and monthly (or semiannual) heart worm and flea prevention. We will call your vet to verify this. We allow exceptions to this in rare medical instances upon verification with your vet, ONLY.

3. You must be a minimum of 21 years of age to adopt and be able to prove you're financially able to care for a dog should a medical emergency arise.

4. You must own the property in which you live or your landlord must be willing to verify that you are allowed to have a dog in your rental home. We check property records.

5. Our dogs require a sturdy fenced in yard, particularly young or active dogs. In certain circumstances, the Board may waive this requirement depending upon the dog's personality and temperament. Any such exceptions will solely be at the discretion of the Rescue Board. Under no circumstances will we consider invisible or electric fencing as acceptable.

6. We only adopt Dogs as indoor pets. We will not adopt Dogs to be used as guard dogs or to be kept out-of-doors.

7. A home visit is required for ALL adoptions, without exception. This is not a white-glove inspection, rather it is to ensure that the home is a safe environment for the dog.

8. We do not transport. If you are applying from out of area or out of state, understand that if your application gets approved, you will be expected to pick up the dog in the location that he/she is being fostered. In addition, if the adoption does not work out, it is your responsibility to bring the dog safely back to us.

9. There may be multiple applications for the same Dog. Our dogs are placed in the home we believe most suitable for them, based upon their individual needs and temperament.

10. Before applying below, please expect this application process to take about two weeks. If you are applying from out of area or state, please expect a slight delay. It will take us more time to get the home visit set up. At any time, if you have questions about the status of your application, please email the rescue at sunshinebigdogrescue@gmail.com.

More about this rescue

Sunshine Big Dog Rescue’s mission is to help with the rehoming of displaced Large Breed dogs throughout the Southeast.

SBDR is a registered non-profit with the state of Florida and a 501(c)3 charity. Donations are tax-deductible and always appreciated.

SBDR is owned and operated by a Board of Directors and a dedicated group of volunteers. We are foster-home based, and our foster homes are located throughout the Tampa Bay area.

SBDR is dedicated to saving and placing unwanted and neglected Large Breed dogs into permanent homes. We carefully evaluate both the dog and the potential family to ensure a proper placement for a forever outcome.

To be the voice for the voiceless, educate on the importance of spay, neuter, shots and preventatives, encourage people to be advocates for dogs, and report any potential neglect or abuse... that's the goal of SBDR.
