My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

-Male (neutered), tuxedo
-Approx. 5-10 years old
-Up to date on FVRCP/Rabies vaccines; FIV/FeLV negative
-Pulled from a NYC shelter by FURR when his time there was up
-Completely blind: Per his previous owner, he was blind since a very young age; likely caused by a severe URI. His one eye was removed that had ruptured. The other is clouded over- it is usually a little weepy
-No teeth: he had 3 teeth left when he came to FURR and they were bad so they were removed
-Eats only wet food 2-3 times a day: not picky about the type or flavor
-Does not eat dry food or treats
-Litter box trained: doesn't mind clay or pine litter
-Energy: normal adult cat energy, not a crazy kitten but will play with toys sometimes
-Expert fly catcher: you'll believe it when you see it- his hearing makes up for what he lacks in sight!
-Likes to sleep in cat beds, on a human bed, or on your lap
-Does not enjoy his feet being touched or belly rubbed, but will allow you to trim his nails
-Talkative: doesn't really meow but has a very cute chirp when you talk to him

About Ernie's Potential Forever Family:
-Able to feed wet food 2-3 times per day
-Single person, couple, or family with kids is fine! (he has a 6 year old human foster brother)
-Has other cats or no cats- Ernie got along well with the other cats and kittens in his foster home
-Has cat-friendly, preferably lower-excitement dog(s) or no dogs- Ernie met a couple visiting dogs in his foster home and just kept his distance

If you're interested in meeting or adopting Ernie or would just like more information about what it's like having a blind cat, his foster mom is happy to answer any questions!!
