Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We are so proud to announce that Eddard is finally ready for adoption! You may remember the sad, neglected boy who came to us after spending months in our local shelter. Eddard was picked up as a stray with large, open calluses on his legs and hips caused by chaining and his skin was a mess! Eddard landed in the best foster home ever and we've gotten him the vet care he so desperately needed to look and feel his best! He's a handsome boy now!
Eddard's favorite thing is cuddling on the couch. He absolutely loves people! Even his vet! He is house trained and crate trained and does not have any anxiety or fear of storms or fireworks. He's not overly active and enjoys short, leisurely walks. He's really great onleash (until tempted by squirrels). Eddard gets along well with calm, large dogs but does not seem to be a good fit for cats or small dogs. Eddard enjoys a fenced in yard but doesn't care to be left alone. Hey, we understand that. Poor guy was chained up and left in a back yard for waaay to long! He loves being in the house so much that he'll check out what's on you counter top and steal it if it's good! He's like a toddler in a toy store!
Eddard is guessed to be about 8 years old. He is short and chunky and somewhat overweight at 80 pounds. Eddard has healed well but may always have scars and may need a medication to keep his skin healthy for quite awhile to come. He will also need a throid medication for the rest of his life. We know this boy has suffered so much and that he is worth every penny we have spent to get him healthy and happy. We hope that we can find just one person who also sees his worth and wants to give him a real, forever family!
A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Eddard, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other "slow to adopt" dogs!
Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and are scheduling individual adoptions in the Waynesboro, VA area during the pandemic. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
