My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tamale (from foster family)
Tamale is the perfect combination of playful kitten and snuggle bug. She is about 1 year old, medium hair, primarily gray with hints of orange. We had the pleasure of fostering this sweet little girl for 5 weeks this spring and fell in love with her. She was a bit shy at first, hiding in a cardboard box we left for her in a small bedroom. After a few days, she slowly started to come out and play with wand toys and timidly explore her new space. At first, she was hesitant to eat her food but after a few days she would gobble up her food right away when we placed it down.
After about a week, we realized she was ready for a larger area so we moved her to our finished basement with lots of room to play. She enjoyed looking out the window and screen door, watching the birds and the squirrels. We found out that she loves chasing the laser and will zoom across the floor at rapid speeds to catch that little red dot! Downstairs she turned into a complete snuggle bug. She would curl up on the couch with us as we watched tv and purr for hours in our laps. She loves rolling around and getting pets on her head, neck and even belly!
Soon she started getting curious about the rest of the house and wanted to venture upstairs. We slowly introduced her to the main floor, which she cautiously explored for a few hours at a time before returning to her safe space in the basement. When Tamale heard activity on the main floor she would meow to get our attention and ask us to come play. She was excited to meet our household cat and was interested in playing with her. When she got a chance to meet our household cat, she excitedly greeted her, showing enthusiasm to play together.
She is a very chatty little girl. She loves giving and receiving affection in the form of playing, pets, snuggling and being brushed. She is great at using her scratching pads and playing on her cat trees. She can lay on the couch with you for hours while napping, making biscuits on a blanket and purring away. She will make you feel very loved!
Tamale is *FIV+, which we know can be a deterrent for some pet owners. After owning several FIV+ cats ourselves, we know they are all so special and deserving of love, just like any other kitty. Tamale is particularly lovable with her snuggly nature and playful demeanor. She would do well in a home with adults, kids and/or other playful cats. It saddens us that we can’t adopt Tamale ourselves due to our household cat's anxiety of other animals. We hope that you'll open your heart and your home to this special kitty.
*Tamale has tested positive for FIV, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Many cats with FIV can live a long and happy lifespan if kept indoors and given routine veterinary care. FIV is not contagious to people or animals other than cats, and only transmitted through deep bite wounds . 90% of cats with FIV will not lose their lives directly from the virus.
