Athena was adopted six months ago and is, unfortunately, being returned to the rescue. She has done nothing wrong, but her adopter has decided she is no longer able to care for her. Athena's before-OMD is heartbreaking and we are disheartened that she is, once again, looking for a committed home but we know her people are out there!

Age: ~ 7 years
Before OMD: Surrendered to the rescue after her initial home was deemed an unsafe place for her to live. Adopted in January 2023 and returned due to no fault of her own.
Special Needs: She is totally, 100% blind but an opthamologist has confirmed that her eyes do not require any additional care.
Energy level: Medium-high. She is a nap queen but also demands a fair amount of action to keep her happy (she is an Aussie, after all!). She loves to go on walks, run in a yard, and play with her vast toy collection.
Descriptors: That perfect blend of sassy & sweet. Happy. Playful. Snuggly. Sensitive.
Her favorite activity: Cuddling you, or your friend, or your mom… or the stranger on the street. She does share your pillow at night. What’s personal space? She also loves: Long strolls. Bones. Peanut butter stuffed kongs. Toys, but wants you to play with them with her.
What makes us laugh: When she grabs her leash in her mouth and dances circles around you.
Have to see it to believe it: She is good at, and loves, fetch.
Life goal: To be @chewy’s next model
Grooming requirements: She has a long, luscious coat. You are going to keep it well maintained. She LOVES to be brushed. She is feeling her best after she gets gussied up with a good brushing and then getting to show it off on a catwalk show around the neighborhood.
What she knows: Sit. Lay down (kinda). The concept of paw.
Dogs: We want her to be queen of the castle in her home. She seems happiest having all the attention to herself, and can't easily (understandably) interpret another dogs' body language.
Cats: Maybe a very dog-savvy cat if they don’t want to interact.
Kids: 8+ as she has not been socialized with kids and we want to be sensitive to her special needs.
House-trained: Mmhmm
Crate-trained: Yep! And does great!
