My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NOTES: We always check vet references. Non-negotiable requirements for Waz's adoption are a fenced-in yard and another small to mid sized dog already in the home. Details below. Due to recent unfortunate events, we will only adopt Waz out within a 30 minute drive of High Ridge, MO. See the SLSDP Facebook page for details.

PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU MEET THE QUALIFICATIONS ABOVE. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

Meet cutie pie Waz! Waz is a very recent addition to the St. Louis Senior Dog Project family, but you can't quite call him a senior! Waz is 1 year old, neutered, and up to date on all vaccines/vet care. He's not quite a mini poodle and not quite a toy poodle; he falls somewhere in the middle at around 11-12 lbs.

Waz came to SLSDP after his former owner dropped him off at county animal control saying that Waz didn't like the owner's girlfriend and was too scared. Well, what we've learned so far about Waz has us blown away that anyone couldn't love this boy to pieces!! While he is definitely shy, he is also incredibly sweet and clearly just wants love. We have no doubt he will open up so much once he's in a safe space with patient, loving people to care for him and make him a true member of their family. So far in his short life, it seems he has not had that.

Waz does fine with women but is scared/shy around them and needs time to understand they want to love him, but when he sees a man he is SO happy and opens up a whole lot! We think Waz would absolutely love a male owner in his forever home! (He'd be fine with a male + female owner scenario; we just think that he would do best with at least one male in the home.) Due to his shyness, we do think a home without young children would be best.

Wazzy baby is still working on housetraining and is not leash trained so will require a fenced yard in order to continue his housetraining and ensure success for all involved. Waz will need at least one other small to mid sized dog in his forever home to show him the ropes given his shyer tendencies. Any current pets in the home are required to be up to date on all preventatives, vaccines, and vet care in order to be considered for adoption.

If you'd like to be considered for Waz's adoption, please fill out our adoption application at www.stlsdp.org. Please note that we only have the resources to respond to those who meet all requirements we've explicitly outlined above.
