My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rocky: SO MUCH PROGRESS!
Rocky sure is handsome and so photogenic! He is spunky as well! Rocky likes to be near his human and will follow you room to room. No doubt he is easy to love as well. Rocky was surrendered to us because the lady felt like they had too much going on in their household to give him the time and attention he needs. We are looking for a quieter type environment for him. We do suspect that one of the children might have been harsh with him so we will not be placing in a home with children. We have found that Rocky seems to bond with just one person and unfortunately might just have the capacity to just love one person. We are thinking that he might be best with just one person as he bonds and bonds hard!! He will totally commit to you and follow you everywhere as his new best friend. Rocky has so much love and attention to share but does have a touch of STUBBORN mixed in there when it comes to sharing food or toys. No worries as we have a plan in place to help him share nice! Rocky is making amazing progress and is a totally different dog since we got him. We have learned how to manage him and to bring out the best in him as long as a potential adopter is willing to follow some basic rules. For instance, Rocky does not like to be picked up unless he is dancing at your feet on two legs and then he wants to be picked up and snuggled. He really is quite affectionate and a snuggler. The minute you sit down he wants to sit on your lap! Rocky loves to be loved when he wants to be loved. He is completely devoted to his person and is a little shadow but wants to decide when he wants to have affection and when to give it. The best type of environment for him would be with someone who didn’t have him as their total focus and is fine with him deciding when to be affectionate and when he doesn’t want to be. Again, he has made massive strides in this area. We just want to put it all out there because he is so HANDSOME and we need to have people hear what we are saying. If he has spotted a squirrel through the window and is barking at it, just don’t pick him up! In his mind he is doing a job right then and doesn’t want to be bothered. Since he is treat motivated, he is manageable. So we really need someone who has a lot of dog experience that would know how to handle a situation like this. Someone who understands that not all dogs have a Golden Retriever type personalities. We are looking for someone who wants to give this little guy a home but someone that will take the time to figure him out. Truly someone who has a rescue heart! He currently is in a foster home with other fur babies so no worries there. But no cats! Rocky selfishly would love to be an only dog and pretty much ignores other fur babies. Rocky appears to be a good watch dog but his high pitched bark may not be suitable for an apartment or one that is attached to another unit. He does alert you but responds when you ask him to not bark anymore. All in all, he is a really good dog especially when you consider what he has been through. We are thinking someone home most of the day would be an excellent forever home for him. We hope you find this bio to be honest and informative! Reach out to us at the email below if you would like to join our foster program or think you would be an excellent forever home for him.

We begin each potential adoption with an adoption application. If you would like an application, email storkwoods@comcast.net. We are an all volunteer based rescue.
