My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PA Kennel License #5254Wags RescueSouthampton Pa 18966 Spayed 1/4/2023 Meet Farthing (she answers to Roo). She is a very sweet, albeit timid, 1.5 year old Foxhound mix (confirmed with DNA test) who loves walks, loves chewing her toys, loves other dogs, and loves to be outside. Her life, before coming to WAGS, has made her permanently wary of new people and new things, so it takes her a while to warm up to strangers and new experiences. This will likely ALWAYS be the case. She is never aggressive, even if scared, but will try to find an exit to the back yard, if something frightens her. She has only come upstairs a few times, and only when she is hungry for breakfast and wants to wake us. She prefers to be downstairs in her familiar surroundings and where she knows she can exit if something spooks her. When we first got her, it took her 2 weeks before she would come in our house, but now, she is totally comfortable being inside with people she is used to. She has adjusted to our kids and visitors well, and will now come and hang out in the living room with us and enjoy laying on the couch. She loves to have her belly rubbed and her ears scratched and loves to give kisses to the people that she trusts. She plays with our other dogs, and feels more confident when they are around, so we think she will do best in a home with another dog, who can show her the ropes. She needs a fenced in yard, and a way to get out to it, when she needs to escape the stresses of new things. Being in the car scares her, and she huddles and shakes in the back seat until we get where we are going. The vet scares her too, so you have to carry her inside. Luckily, she only weights 35 lbs! If we have new people over, she prefers to be outside, until she feels the house is safe with people she knows, and since we have a dog door and a fenced in yard, she uses them freely to come and go as she wants to. She is bouncy and happy, and her tail is always wagging. She is a bit of a chewer still, and hasnt grown out of that yet, so she needs chew toys that can keep her occupied, and if not, you may find a dishtowel she has stolen from the kitchen torn to pieces in her dog bed. When it is time to go for a walk, she bounces off the walls (why we named her Roo like a kangaroo), and she loves all the sights and sounds of the neighborhood if she smells a deer, she is beyond herself with excitement. In her early days, things on the walk used to scare her, but she has totally become familiar, and they no longer affect her. She will need someone patient and loving, and someone who understands that she likely will never be normal and completely well-adjusted, but can provide a lot of love and companionship for the right owner.   2/21/2023> Meet Farthing>> This little girl is a darling. She is a 32lb American foxhound mix-breed and approximately 10-12 months old. She looks like a miniature black lab, with small feet and agile movements. She is a cute little thing happy - and her tail is always wagging. She loves to give kisses and will roll over for a tummy tickle. All black with a white blaze on her chest and a couple of white toes. She is sweet and loving, despite being apprehensive of new people and new things. She loves playing with other dogs and loves to chill out and sit in front of the fire at night. She has adjusted well to being with us, but she is still a bit scared and skittish when new faces are here. She stays on the first floor and hasnt quite mustered up the courage to go upstairs to the second level of the house yet>> She probably would do best in a home with another friendly dog to help give her confidence and show her the ropes. She loves to be outside, so a fenced in yard would be important. She is never aggressive, even when scared, and warmed up to us quickly. She loves going for walks and gets so excited when it is walk-time. She pulls a bit on the leash, but is clearly in her element when out walking enjoying the sites and the smells.>> She has tons of potential and needs a kind and patient owner who is loving with her and introduces her to new people slowly. She is active and playful and happy - just not quite fully sure of herself.> 10/9/2022Meet FarthingThis little girl is a darling. She is a small 25-30lb mix breed and approximately 6 months old. She looks like a miniature black lab, but her feet are small and she is agile, and so not sure she will grow to be nearly that big. She is a cute little thing happy - and her tail is always wagging. All black with a white blaze on her chest and a couple of white toes. She is sweet and loving, although is a little scared and apprehensive of new people and new noises. She would do best in a home with another friendly non-aggressive dog, and a fenced in yard, since lots of new people are still a bit scary for her. She loves to play and is mischievous. She is never aggressive, even if scared, and warmed up to us quickly. She is highly food motivated, so a few treats and some positive praise, and she will give you kisses and will be happy while you pet her. Leash walking is new to her, so that may take some time. I think she has tons of potential with a kind and loving owner who is patient with her and introduces her to new things slowly. She is playful and happy just not quite fully sure of herself yet. She would make a great pet for someone who is willing to show her love, kindness and that the world is not as scary as it seems. 10/3/2022The British Money pups are shy 6 month olds that will need lots of understanding and time to warm up. They will not be considered for homes without another friendly dog, They are super sweet and want to love people. They enjoy petting but at this time are not able to initiate interactions with humans but do seem to enjoy it. They are about 20 lbs or less. They want to be with other dogs and other dogs help them to understand that love and all the good food come from humans. If you are willing to take the time and invest in British money your investment will will be returned 100 fold!9/17/2022Meet Farthing, a curious and playful British Money mixed breed female. Shes six months old, weighs a bit over 16 lbs and has been vetted as age appropriate, including spay. Farthing is working on her house manners, crate skills, and getting familiar with being on a leash. She is looking for a home of her very own, seems to like other dogs, doesnt display interest in the cat that shes met, and would be a lovely addition to a loving family or couple who can make a long term commitment to a nice medium sized pup.
