Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Maverick is an approximately 9 year old, 8 lb. chihuahua who was turned into a local shelter and unclaimed after being hit by a car. Due to the severity of his injuries, the shelter timestamped him. SDHH quickly got to the shelter, and brought him straight to our vet for pain management and evaluation.
His X-rays revealed multiple pelvic fractures. A specialist orthopedic surgeon was consulted and Mav underwent a complex surgery later that week.
Postop he had an 8 week plan in place, first involving crate rest, then accelerating his exercise and walking weekly. He is doing great with full mobility and walking well. He also had a dental and a neuter. He has good hearing, vision and now mobility. He will remain on Gabapentin long term as the healing continues, which costs less than $20 a month.
Maverick has blossomed into a love bug, enjoys human contact, a lap, loves to sleep under the covers. He occasionally gives a little grumble when picked up, and the vet felt like it might be continued healing.(this was why he was kept on his gaba).
Maverick is good with other dogs, but unknown with cats. He loves his walks and is good on leash.
