My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

If you are looking for a dog to take everywhere with you, Emma is your girl! Emma is an awesome, very affectionate velcro dog. She is an energetic adventurer and loves people, toys and exploring new places as well as attending all of your “family meetings” wherever you hold them.
She is most likely a lab/black mouth cur mix and will probably be a medium to large adult. She is very young and learning about appropriate chewing and house training right now, and is very treat motivated. She loves to be around people and is very respectful with our older, slightly cranky dogs. She is convinced they will play with her, but the rest of us are doubtful.
Emma might be a bit much for smaller children because she is aggressively affectionate and is still learning what’s appropriate, but she would be great with another large breed dog to help her run off some energy but no cats for this girl.
Emma is nearly house trained with a dog door and is okay in a crate. She protests for a bit, but settles in eventually. We’re working on appropriate chewing and reminding her that toes are not toys. She’s a terrific puppy and wants to be a member of your family!   Emma’s  adoption fee is $300 and includes her spay (schedule at Iowa Humane Alliance), microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives plus a free basic obedience course at Cedar Run Company in Hiawatha. Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and current on vaccinations and preventatives for consideration.
