In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information
at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements
and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info
section. If, after reading that information, you have any questions, please submit your
question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A
personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted
and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you!

If you are in search of your new shadow, Lady is the girl for you. Lady is a 4 year old Shih Tzu who is excited for the next chapter in her life. She spent her entire life in a puppy mill for the sole purpose of producing puppies, and she is just now learning how wonderful it is to be a dog in a loving family. She is a sweet, rather timid, but playful girl. She loves cuddling on the couch and in bed with her foster family. She also likes to play by taking all the toys out of the toy bin every day. Her foster mom thinks Lady secretly likes watching her foster parents put them all back.

Potty training is actually going well. Lady still doesn’t let her foster parents know when she has to go, but she will go on a potty pad. If kept on a frequent, regular schedule, she will eventually learn to only go outside and not rely on the potty pad. She is still getting used to the feel of grass and prefers the sidewalk, but she is becoming more accustomed to grass each day. She loves walks and being outdoors - and never wants to come in. After being caged her entire life, she is truly enjoying her freedom. Lady prefers sleeping with her foster family in bed and sleeps very well through the night with no accidents.

Lady would be okay in a home with older children, but she is a bit timid and she runs the other direction from noises and excessive activity. She has done very well with her foster dog brothers and other dogs she has met on walks. She will be a great addition to any family that loves her as much as she will love you.

These are the requirements for Lady’s new family:
1. A family who is home much of the day and who will devote time to Lady.
2. A family with children who are 10 years or older will be considered, if they have had experience positively interacting with a young, small dog.
3. Lady's family must be committed to her continued training, including housetraining, socialization, and learning house manners.
4. A fenced yard would be great, because Lady really enjoys being outdoors. Her family must be willing and able to take her on walks every day (weather permitting). She loves and needs to walk, so this is particularly important!
5. Live within 60 miles of Saint Paul, Minnesota and agree to attend the annual rescue reunion held each year in September.

Lady is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick
preventative. Her adoption fee is $370.00 plus tax of $27.84 for a total of $397.84.

To meet Lady, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first
paragraph. Or you can also see her and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih
Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first
Saturday of every month at Chuck and Don’s at 6821 York Avenue South, Edina near
Southdale.
