My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Nessie. At first I am very reserved, but once I get to know you, I am very lovable.  I am learning to play with toys and I like the squeaky ones. I have had some training and I am learning what it is like to walk on leash. I am also learning that treats are good.  I love to hang out with you and give lots of kisses.  I am housebroken and crate trained.

At night, if you put a blanket or a dog bed next to your bed, I will stay next to you, that is my favorite place.  If you need a stay at home companion, I am your girl.  I love going for walks and I ride well in the car.  Take me on hikes with you, I am very agile and like to make it over any obstacles.

I have a very strong prey drive and would do well in such activities. Cats are a thing to chase, so a home without cats would be ideal. I also like to hang out on the couch with you and if you are not sitting in your favorite chair, I will curl up in it. I have not been around children much, so I would need a slow introduction to them. I will sneak up and gently steal toys from my foster sister (Cora). I have been introduced to pup cups and really enjoyed them.

I am really learning what it is like to be a dog. I am learning commands like sit, paw, down and stay. I will do well in a house with another confident dog to help show me the ropes. I am definitely a dog that requires time and trust, but I am a loyal and loving dog to my people.

Adoption fees:

Adult: 1-6 yrs $400.00

Each of our dogs are fully vaccinated to include Bordetella, DHPP, DHLPP and Rabies. We deworm each dog and chip. Lastly, we spay or neuter each of our dogs.

Our adoption process includes an initial conversation about the dog to see if the dog is a good match or if another dog could be a more suitable match. We also will complete a home visit. It should be noted that our adoption counselors know the dogs and can best guide any possible adopter with a suitable match.

Please visit https://www.calpaws.org/available-dogs for the adoption application!

We are always in need of experienced fosters for the amount of dogs we have coming in. Being a foster is such a rewarding experience. If you are interested please review https://www.calpaws.org/fostering
