My story

In celebration of Pumpkin Spice and all that's nice, this sweet gal's adoption fee has been reduced to $300.

Cocoa came to CPR with her five newborn puppies from a rescue partner in West TN. Cocoa's former owner had given her to a relative. This relative was wheelchair-bound but did his best to take care of Cocoa and her babies. The local animal control officer found out about the situation and the relative surrendered Cocoa and her babies to be placed with CPR for fostering and adoption.

Cocoa was a wonderful momma dog to her puppies. She took amazing care of them. Once she was done nursing, Cocoa was integrated with her foster family's personal dogs. She gets along well with the dogs and has found a new best friend in another foster dog that is living in the house.

Sometime in the past, Cocoa broke her right hind leg. It was not taken care of properly and the bone healed crooked. Cocoa does not let this hold her bag. She loves to run around in the backyard and play. CPR's vet examined her leg and said that it was an old break that healed "funny." The vet said there was nothing that needed to be done to the leg.

Cocoa is a sweet girl and a big snuggler. She loves nothing more than sitting beside her foster humans on the couch at night. She is almost completely housebroken and she goes willing into a crate when the humans have to leave the house. Cocoa will make a wonderful addition to any family.

Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pup’s with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. We can not guarantee approval on site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pups at the event!

The adoption fee is $500 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. This dog tested negative for heartworms.

If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.

TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back.

After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

More about this rescue

CPR was formed in 2004 to assist unwanted pups and dogs with finding a new home. We rescue our pups from high kill shelters in TN and MS. Without the dedication of the staff and volunteers of these shelters and without the assistance of CPR, the pups posted on our website would not be rescued.
We also assist families with unwanted litters of pups by placing the pups and spaying their mommy dog to stop the cycle of unwanted puppies. When funds are available, we spay/neuter personally owned pets when asked for assistnce.
We rescue and rehome 200+ pups and dogs each month. We accomplish this task with the help of an awesome hard working and dedicated staff and volunteer base. Also helping us to accomplish what seems at times to be a thankless and overwhelming job is our pure and selfless love of dogs! We truly believe that rescue + rehoming = true love. <3
