My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Howdy there, I`m Deepak! I`m a confident, handsome, and happy-go-lucky pup who is full of life and bound to make you smile!

To start off with the basics, I`m highly housetrained - my kennel is often spotless when you come visit. If I`m ever loud in my kennel, it means I REALLY need to pee! I get along with some dogs and have been previously paired with another dog. If you already have a furry friend, let`s do a meet and greet to see how we get on! I have medium energy, so after I have my fun outside, I love to relax and get some attention from my humans.

Now onto the fun stuff! I LOVE rolling in the grass (check out my photos and video!). If you ever have the pleasure of taking a walk with me, you`ll see me flopping down on the nice comfy patch of grass and rolling around to my heart`s content! It`s so fun and I look so silly that it`ll make you laugh. I`m back to business afterwards though, and walk very nicely on leash. Whether it`s walks, or a good time in a yard where I can explore and roll around, I`m up for all it!

I also happen to know two commands that I`ve perfected - sit and speak! I know them so well that I`ll hop on a bench or picnic table so I can show off my skills! Plus, it lets me get closer to you for the best pets and massages.

I can be cuddly once I get to know you - fun fact, I have a vague Texas-shaped spot on my head that you can see when I rest my big ol` head on your lap.

Overall, I`m a standout pup who`s looking for a standout human. Come see me at AAC or share my page with someone who is looking for a loving companion!

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Go meet their pets

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00am to 7:00pm. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
