My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oakley is a beautiful, lovable one year old male labradoodle. Oakley loves to swim, go on hikes, and walks very politely on a leash. He is so much fun to take to the beach, lake, or creek because he loves to splash, swim, retrieve sticks and frolic in the waves. On or off the leash he likes to stay near his family and will come back immediately when called. He adores his family, is affectionate, sweet, expressive, learns quickly, and is eager to please. He just wants to be by your side and your best friend.

Oakley has been an inside dog his whole life and not left alone (fenced in backyard). He has been cherished and well cared for: always up to date on all vaccines, flea and heart worm meds, vet health checks, played with and taken on adventures. He’s been a member of the family his whole life. Oakley is very attached to the other older dog in the family and needs a home with another dog. He has never been alone and companionship is very important to him.

Oakley is being rehomed through no fault of his own. Oakley was a gift, as a puppy, to a toddler. The child is well behaved, but very high energy. Oakley gets excited and they quickly match each others energy level which isn’t good for either of them. This has not been fair to Oakley and he deserves to be in a home with older children or adults. He would make someone a wonderful companion!

Interested in Oakley? Your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application which you'll find on the website at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.

*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them.
