BACKGROUND: Katy was found as a kitten. When an eye inflammation refused to resolve, we took her to an eye specialist who diagnosed her with uveitis and the beginnings of glaucoma in her right eye. She is on a permanent 3x/daily eyedrop medication regimen that keeps everything under control with a recheck advised every four months. Katy is used to the routine (and she loves her reward treats!).
PERSONALITY: Katy is a lovely girl who needs a special human to both take care of her medical needs and to understand that this timid kitty needs a lengthy adjustment time with new people and places. With time to know her specific person, you will find Katy coming to lie in the cradle of your legs while you sleep and occasionally wanting pets when she’s sleepy on a cat tree’s perch (her fur is silky soft and it’s always a treat). She is more often a quiet companion in the background not wanting to be touched too much but peacefully hanging out in the room or engaging when you bring out a wand toy. When Katy really gets excited is meal time… this girl LOVES her food and if she thinks you have food or a treat she will greet you with meows and a dance. It’s the best way to get introduced and also the best way to make sure she gets her eyedrops. Her personality will incrementally blossom over time; while Katy will likely never be a confident kitty, she has a sweetness that is rewarding for the person who gives her the opportunity to connect.
COMPATIBILITY: Katy is sociable with other cats and makes feline friends easily. She also does well with cat-savvy canines. A tranquil adult-only home would suit her best.
