My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We are open to Foster-to-Adopt program for Gavin. We will do our best to find a perfect home for Gavin to avoid any possible return. We are looking for a family who could give him unconditional love regardless his size and strength. Gavin is a perfect family/companion dog who enjoys any type of activities that the family may offer.

***ATTENETION***

We are looking for an experienced owner who is able to handle tugs at the leash when Gavin gets excited, direct Gavin when he barks, create a safe environment when visitors visit, able to follow trainer’s recommendation to continue train him.

After 3 years of adoption, Gavin was returned to our organization due to owner’s age. Gavin is a Golden Retriever Mix with a very mellow personality. He is a calm dog that adapts to a new environment very well. He gets along with children (from toddler to teenager) and strangers (regardless gender and size). Anyone can pet him and he also loves being pet. He is a smart dog and knows to use doggy door within 3 days by learning from other dogs. He is potty trained and never had any incident when living in a new environment. He knows commands “sit”, “paw” and “down”. He does not beg for food and always patiently wait for his food. He fits in parties/large gatherings very well.

Breed: Golden Retriever Mix

Gender: Male

Age: 6 years (DOB: 10/01/2017)

Weight: 80lbs (as of 01/30/24)

Dogs: Neutral toward dogs. Gets along very well with dogs with all ages and sizes.

Cat/Guinea Pig/Rabbit: Would take a little bit of time to get him used to a certain cat. Not recommend for families with active cats/guinea pig/rabbit or any prey animals.

Adults/Kids: Gets along well with adults or kid

Strangers: Good with strangers

Unfamiliar Sounds: Will alert owner of incoming noise to the house.

Car Engine Sounds: Might bark when hearing specific engine sound, for example, pick-up truck. Will stop when the owner asks him to stop.

Food Aggression: None toward humans or dogs

Potty Trained: Yes

Energy Level: Low to Medium

Food Motivation: Medium, not picky on the food he eats
