My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Only Dog as he is dog selective but does live with a female dog currently

and a fenced in yard*

Beau is a 4.5 year old possible boxer/dane mix   . He is about 80 pounds   . He previously lived in an apartment with his family (including a 2 year old child and a smaller dog) but they wanted him to have a chance to be more active. He currently lives with his foster mom and another large female dog.

He is a happy boy that loves to play ball and loves treats!  He rides well in the car. He knows simple commands and goes in his crate easily when asked. He is happy to sleep on his bed on the floor or in bed with you. He loves to cuddle.

Since being displaced from his home he has developed anxiety. He does not have any aggression towards adults or children but has overcorrected with other dogs. He is currently being muzzle and leash trained so that he can safely be out and about. He is doing VERY well with training as he is super food motivated. He has barrier reactivity (barks if something is on the other side of the fence or window) but is happy to greet anyone he meets once he can be close to them. He is a very well behaved, loving dog when he is in his “safe place”.

Beau needs a person or family who is willing to continue training with him and can be understanding of his needs. He currently lives with a dog that he gets along with perfectly fine but we are limiting him to be an only dog upon adoption. He will need a fenced yard so he can be active as he loves to play ball and run around and sniff.  He has SO much love to give and we hope to find his forever family soon.

If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO.

Beau’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip.

We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.

More about this rescue

Needy Paws Rescue, located in St. Louis, MO, is devoted to saving animals in need, whose lives are in danger at high kill animal shelters & animal controls, those who are strays, have been abandoned or whose family has faced an extreme emergency, regardless of their size or breed.

Our organization is made up of Volunteers who have been involved in various animal rescues in the St. Louis area and we plan to use our knowledge & experience to make a difference. We believe spaying & neutering is a very important step in keeping pets healthy & happy, plus it helps decrease overpopulation. All of our rescued animals will be spayed or neutered, they will be microchipped to ensure they are identifiable if lost or stolen and they will be current on all of their vaccinations before going to their Forever Homes.

We are foster-based and all pets stay in approved Foster Homes that have passed inspections, reference checks and are qualified to take care of our rescued animals while they wait for their Forever Family. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will be making home visits and conducting veterinarian checks & reference checks to ensure the pets will have a safe, loving, happy home. Forever Families will be taught how to care for their pet and learn how to get the most out of their relationship with their new family member. We also have an after-care specialist who will be in contact with the families after the adoption to see how well they're doing together
