My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MY LEG WAS BROKEN AND HEALED INCORRECTLY. I NEEDED TO HAVE TO HAVE MY REAR LEG AMPUTATED THIS WEEK. :( CAN YOU HELP ME PLEASE???? MY BILLS ARE OVER $700 :( THANKS...Foxy the Pom

UPDATED BIO 06/16/2010: Foxy is a darling 5 year old 8 lb little girl who is what we lovingly call a "tripod". She had to have one of her hind legs amputated since it was deformed from an old fracture that healed improperly. She has recovered from her amputation surgery and is doing fine. One less leg does not seem to slow her down. She is fetching toys and bringing them back like a good girl. She is housetrained and goes outside for her business. You can tell when she wants to go out because she will do circles and look at you with her big brown eyes as if to say, "lets go I am ready". She is not picky and eats dry dog food - so no finicky foxy here. She loves to snuggle with her Foster Mom's blind dog Scruff, a UYR rescue. They share their doggy bed even though there are two. She is not a barker, but she is starting to feel like this is her home. If anyone comes by the back door she will let me know. Isn't that what she is suppose to do? She will walk on a leash but prefers the cool A/C. Her best hobby is laying on your lap. She will make a darling addition to anyones home and heart.

UPDATED BIO 06/05/2010: Hi everyone. I just wanted to let you know that I had to have my back right leg amputated this past week. I know it's going to be easier walking around with that broken leg (it just kept getting in the way), but right now my Foster Mom is just making sure that I am as comfortable as possible. I am a sweet little girl, and I like to go for walks. I don't mind cats (or dogs), but I am not much in the mood for playing right now. We'll see how I feel when I'm all better.

Right now, FM thinks that my ideal home would be one where I was the only pup or had maybe one other doggy in the home. I love attention and want to make sure I have my proper "lap" time. I am a true Diva and love to be brushed and pet, and kissed, and loved on. If you brushed my hair all day, that would just be the best thing ever! Well, gotta go now! P.S. I'm being fostered in Fort Myers, FL. If you're interested in me, let FM know, OK?

ORIGINAL BIO 05/30/2010: My name is Foxy. I am a 5 year old 8 lb girlie who was rescued today from an area high-kill shelter (Foster mom calls me a little chunky and says I should be about 6.5 lbs). I am a........ gulp....... Pomeranian. I was going to tell you I was a Yorkie in a Pom costume, but I figured my FURever family that will be reading this is too smart to fall for that one! Well, I'm what you call a Yorkie wannabe.

See, FM came to see all the yorkies at the shelter this weekend. While she was there making sure they would be taken care of, she saw me. I was in the same cage as another little boy she remembers from waaaaay back in the Fall of last year. His name is Harry-Houdini (see Happy tails page). We have a similar problem, Harry and I. We're both non-yorkies....... and we both had broken legs that healed improperly..... and I will probably end up a tripod like him. Since the person who put their name down to adopt me never showed up, Foster mommy took me home and promised I would have as happy an ending as Harry-Houdini!

There's not much to report at this time about my personality. I'm getting pain medicine since I was spayed today. I will go to the special Dogtor who took care of Harry this week so they can evaluate my leg. Please send Yorkie/Pom prayers for me, and maybe you can spare a few dollars to help me get all better. Thank you so much! I love yorkies!
