My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**FERRIS HAS BEEN ADOPTED!**Pal's Place has three of the sweetest, most adorable, and lovable little nuggets in town, all looking for loving forever families. These precious little guys were rescued from an overburdened animal control facility in rural Kentucky and are now in a loving foster home in Chicago, waiting to meet their forever families. Their mother is a 50-pound Shepherd mix, and they were born on 6/22/23. Unfortunately, shortly after giving birth, their mother developed an infection in her teats and could not nurse her puppies. They have been bottle-fed and lovingly hand-raised since they were 3 weeks old.
Their mother is a medium-sized Shepherd mix of undetermined breeds, and the father was unknown, but judging from the appearance of the puppies, it looks like he may have had some Aussie, hound, and Rottweiler in his family tree. Both parents were likely mixed breeds, making these sweeties super mutts! There are two females in the litter, Sloane and Cameron, and one male, Ferris. Sloane is the smallest and weighs in at a mighty 5 pounds at their 9-week check-in, while Cameron and Ferris are closer to 9 pounds. Given their current age and size, we expect an adult size of 40-55 pounds. All three of the puppies are curious, energetic, social, and happy puppies that will make great companions for active families with the time and patience to raise, train, socialize, and exercise very young puppies. Puppies are adorable and fun but require tremendous time and attention during their first several months. Please remember that puppies this age need frequent potty breaks (every 2-3 hours or so) and lots of playtime, engagement, and mental stimulation throughout the day, so please consider if you truly have the time for a puppy before applying. The adoption fee to the rescue is $475 per puppy. This fee helps to cover their medical expenses while in our care. They are up-to-date with age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and have received a round of dewormer. The fee also covers their spay/neuter appointments scheduled at the end of September.
Due to a nationwide shortage of veterinarians, our partner clinics are booking several weeks out for non-emergency surgeries. As a result, we have not been able to have some of our dogs spayed/neutered prior to placing them into adoptive homes, including these pups. We feel it is especially important for puppies to be placed into loving forever homes as quickly as possible so they can begin adjusting to their new lives and families. We are allowing these little ones to go home on spay/neuter contracts with the understanding it is MANDATORY they be returned to Pal's Place for their surgery appointments at the end of September. For this reason, we can only consider local adoptions for this litter (Chicagoland area/neighboring suburbs).
