My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thunder is a pint-sized pit mix packed with muscle and unlimited potential. He is ridiculously cute--staff are obsessed with his big, expressive ears and his indomitable spirit. Despite having been here for 6 months, Thunder remains untouched by kennel stress and is an incredibly stable and confident dog. His food and toy drive are out of this world, easily making him a versatile prospect for someone interested in delving into sports. He is good with dogs of all ages, sizes, and sexes--fantastic manners and zero resource guarding that we have seen.

For Thunder, the most exciting game in the world is that of movement. A ball sitting alone is far less interesting to him than a ball tossed in the air, and the same for food. For him, the ultimate reward is the act of catching something that he has had to work for. After all, he has been gifted with an athlete's form and talents; he cannot help but use them.

Thunder tends to be passed over because inside his kennel, he is bouncier than a pogo stick, and outside of it, he seems as though he is ignoring the potential adopter. He definitely comes off as uninterested, but it is important to understand that he is a dog intensely focused on the environment around him as well as being independent--this goes along with his confidence and stability. This doesn't mean that he isn't cuddly or affectionate, it just means that those needs have to be met and you have to show up consistently in his life. But he is just as willing to sit on your lap and lean into some good quality petting as he is to go on a long sniffari or chase a flirt pole or jump for his Chuck-it ball.
