Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Willamena is a very special girl looking for a very special forever. Willamena (Willie) is a deaf Australian Shepherd who is obsessed with people. OBSESSED. Tall, short, square, round, young, old- if you are a human, she loves you and cannot get enough of you. The first few days of meeting Willie will consist of her taking all her Aussie energy and channeling it into full body wiggles as she tries to be as close as possible to you as often as possible. She has the softest, fluffiest coat, perfect for petting for hours. This beautiful coat does shed, but she will let you brush her. She does eventually calm down some and will sit nearby calmly, sometimes falling asleep, while she waits with anticipation for your attention again. Upon eye contact, rinse and repeat wiggle love.
When she gets comfortable and is confident that love will keep coming, she gets into a routine. Willie will find a comfy couch and wait for you to come join and cuddle. She is not jumpy, but we always make a point to push the cushion or rock the chair to not startle her with our presence if she’s in a deep sleep. She will watch TV with you, but she has been known to bark at Ms. Rachel which is surprising because she can’t even hear the “icky sticky bubblegum” song!
Speaking of Ms. Rachel, Willamena did GREAT with a toddler that loves the attention Willie gives. Willie is an equal opportunity snuggler, so all members of the house should be good with getting full body cuddles!
Still interested in this special girl? A few more things to know:
1. Willie’s ears don’t work, but her nose is a superpower. She can find all lost cheerios under furniture and will counter surf if something is left in reach. She can’t hear "no", so keep things pushed to the back of counters or put away!
2. Willie is a couch potato. She is house trained and will do her business outside, but typically comes right back in for cuddles.
3. Willie is all about people and could care less about other animals. She will happily coexist, but won’t be a playmate. She has cuddling to do.
4. Willie is not freaked out by thunderstorms! She will sleep peacefully through many house shaking vibrations. She is a quiet pup, really only barking if another dog starts it or at the TV as mentioned before.
5. Willie does well in a crate when you are away. She will sleep there at night if that’s preferred.
