I came to FMAR as a stray and my heartworm test was positive. I am so lucky that one of the FMAR volunteers fell in love with me and took me home with her while I was going through my heartworm treatment. I am done with that and am ready to find my forever home.
I would love a quiet home with a patient owner who will allow me to come out of my shell at my own pace. I can get overexcited and loud when I see other dogs and cats and sometimes even people that I don't know. I would be happy to be the only pet in your home but if you have a quiet and passive dog, I might feel comfortable with them.

I am neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which covers all of the medical care I have received.
*Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. The adoption process may require multiple visits to the shelter before a dog can go home with you. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Approve Application
Once we receive your application, we will review it and can contact you to possibly meet the animal.

Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
If the application is approved and any additional paperwork is received (ie. lease, apartment contract), you will be scheduled to visit.

Take the Pet Home
After entire family meets the pet and everyone is approving of the adoption, the animal can go to its new home!

FMAR is an no-kill 501 C 3 tax-exempt all breed dog and cat rescue, and like you, we are concerned about the welfare of the animals and the families that adopt them. We will require paperwork to be filled out and a consultation with the entire family before an animal is adopted. Interaction with any other dogs in your care and everyone living in the household is required. We reserve the right to deny any adoption that we feel is not safe or comfortable for either the animal or potential adopter.
