My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh if ever there was going to be one that was SO hard to give up, but I know there is a great home out there that he can bring the same love to as he does mine. This little guy has so much character and spunk. He is smart and very much wants us to be happy whenever ever he is around us. The harder the day, or night, the more he moves to snuggle and purr. He is very playful and despite being an absolute foodie (he can pack away a large can no problem if he gets away with stealing from the others) he stays very fit and active. I don't think he will get any larger, but it doesn't stop him for taking on my big boys (Gizmo just weighed in a 14 pounds) for a tussle. He remains very close with Luna (foster's kitten) and has started picking up her bad habits - though unlike her he is quick to obey when I ask for better behavior and learns to only do things when he won't get caught.

Boundaries with human food are difficult - he jumped on the table at Christmas and snatched turkey right off my mother's plate while she was buttering a roll! Of course it didn't stop her from feeding him the scraps in the kitchen afterward, because she loves how affectionate he was with her all the same. He did not know what to make of visitors at first, but his curiosity has him pretty quickly coming out to see how they smell and what they are about. He spends the most time with me while I work each day, and in my lap at my desk verses the kitty beds the others prefer.

He started following my husband to the bedroom during his naps but he seems to check with me first - you can almost see the gears working on 1- who is most likely to feed him sooner and 2- who is going to both pet and turn on a heating blanket for him before he chooses. He definitely doesn't like being alone - so someone away from the house all day or traveling would not be a good fit, but I think children would make him a very happy boy. He is also the kind of cat I could see 'going to work' with an owner if that were an option instead of staying at home, especially since he is so curious and open with new people.

Hereford's right eye will likely never be normal. He can't open it as wide as his left, and sometimes it looks hazy or has a shimmer, but he doesn't rub at it and doesn't have any discharge most of the time. His sneezing is less frequent, I think the lysine in his food should take a lot of the credit for that. If it mixes with some wet food or treats - he'll gobble it down no problem, which should make it easier on an owner that is willing to keep up with his regiment. Please email to meet Hereford!
