If you are interested in bringing her home, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Applications for adoption can be found on our website.

Since we are 100% foster-based rescue, only completed applications that meet requirements will be reviewed or contacted. We do not allow shipping and do not transport. You must live within 350mi of Maryville, IL & able to drive to the area for a meet & greet.

Shuriki was able to come to rescue after being retired from breeding. She has been introduced to a whole new world since being with us.

Her foster mom says:
“Shuriki is still skittish. She will come & sniff my hands but then darts off. She wags her tail & is excited to see me, just has a hands-off rule. She barks at my husband. He feeds her & gives her treats but she barks at him quite a bit. She would likely do best with a patient quiet household."

Potty training is going well, her new family will have to be diligent in continuing her training. She needs to be given ample & consistent opportunity to be successful. We’ve started some preliminary leash training, but she is nowhere ready yet. Since she will need to do potty duties immediately upon being adopted, we will require a secure physically fenced yard.

Shuriki is timid so her new family will need to have lots of patience with her. She will need a home with no young or small children, but older teenagers should be fine. The foster siblings are helping Shuriki with all the ways of being a normal dog. It will be very helpful for her new family to have another dog of similar size to continue with this.

She likes to sleep in the bedroom but doesn’t get in the bed. She is a very good girl who doesn’t get into anything. When her foster mom is home, she has free roam of the house. When she is left alone, she is allowed a doggie proofed area of the house where she patiently waits for the humans to return.

Shuriki is terribly sweet & we hope to match her to her forever family very soon.
